           July 4th-------Barbecue Chicken

COOKING TIME
Active Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup each chili sauce and molasses
2 tsp salt-free chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
3 1/2 lb chicken, cut in eighths
1/3 cup ginger ale

PREPARATION
1. Mix chili sauce, molasses, chili powder and cumin in large zip top freezer bag. Add chicken, seal bag and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.

2. Heat outdoor grill for indirect cooking. Remove chicken to foil-lined tray. Pour off marinade into a small glass bowl. Cook marinade in microwave on high 3 minutes, stirring often. Stir in ginger ale; set aside.

3. Place chicken, skin side up, on side of grill not directly over heat. Close grill; cook 30 minutes.

4. Place chicken, skin side down, directly over heat, and brush with some marinade mixture and grill 5 minutes.
Turn, brush with marinade and grill 5 minutes more.

Tip: Limited grills space? Cook chicken on a foil-lined pan in the oven for 50 minutes at 350ºF.
